About Fengxian Museum
Designed by Sou Fujimoto, this is the museum’s newer home, separate from its former premises in the older town centre.
The collection includes ceramics, painting and calligraphy, jade, weaving tools and local homespun textiles. The cloth and clothing materials give particular insight into everyday production and life in southern Shanghai. Compare these local objects with the wider range of historical art, then return outside to read the building’s relationship with the lake. Temporary exhibitions and individual objects on view can change.
What to look for
- The Sou Fujimoto building creates a modern architectural setting beside Jinhai Lake.
- Homespun cloth, clothing and weaving tools connect the collection with local textile traditions.
