About Haihui Academy

The academy was established in the early Ming period and became an important local place of learning. The county's cultural account associates it with officials and scholars including Chen Tingjing and Wang Guoguang. Its educational history sits alongside the temple buildings, including the Daxiong Hall rebuilt during the Ming dynasty.

The paired towers are the site's most recognisable monuments: a relic pagoda dated 922 and a glazed pagoda dated 1565. Water also shapes the setting. One of the springs passes through a fish pond and winding channel before emerging from a carved stone dragon's mouth into the pool known as Haihui Longqiu.
