About Deyang Confucian Temple
The principal axis passes the screen wall and Lingxing Gate, crosses the Pan Pond area and continues through Dacheng Gate towards Dacheng Hall. The series gives the complex a clear ceremonial progression.
Read the changes in scale as you move inward. Dacheng Hall has a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof and a broad seven-bay frontage, making it the architectural focus. Qisheng Hall completes another part of the ritual arrangement beyond it. The surviving complex was shaped by nineteenth-century rebuilding, while the institution’s history extends further back.
