About Shunan Zhuhai National Park

Emerald Corridor places reddish sandstone paving between closely arching stems; Wangyou Valley adds a sheltered ravine setting. Haizhonghai is an open reservoir lake surrounded by the bamboo landscape. Select a few contrasting stops and use the scenic area’s internal transport where appropriate, since the named sights are distributed across a much larger area than a single park walk.

Shunan Zhuhai lies in Changning and Jiang'an counties in Yibin, southern Sichuan, and is known for its bamboo. The scenic area covers about 120 square kilometres, including about 46 square kilometres of forest. Its hills lie near latitude 28.5 degrees north, at elevations of about 600 to 1,000 metres. About 60 bamboo species are native to the area, and more than 300 others have been introduced. Nanzhu (楠竹) occupies the largest area; other named bamboos include banzhu (斑竹), shuizhu (水竹), maozhu (毛竹), renmianzhu (人面竹) and qinsizhu (琴丝竹).

Location & getting there

Getting to Shunan Zhuhai National Park

Use Shunan Bamboo Sea’s West Gate visitor area in Zhuhai Town, Changning County, Yibin. Confirm the internal bus or road plan for Emerald Corridor, Wangyou Valley and Haizhonghai after entry; these stops should not be treated as one short walk.

  • Cliff and waterfall sections can close for maintenance or weather. The August 2026 notices specifically concerned Xianyu Cave, Tianbao Village and Qicai Waterfall; confirm their latest status if adding them to this bamboo-and-lake route.
General visit reminders
