About Maokong Gondola
The ride passes wooded slopes and the Zhinan Temple stop before reaching Maokong, where tea houses look back towards the city. It works best as a journey into the hills, with time at the top rather than an immediate return ride.
At Maokong, choose a tea house and try locally associated Muzha Tieguanyin or Wenshan Baozhong tea. Zhinan Temple can be an additional stop on the cable-car route. Cloud, rain and wind change both the views and operating conditions, so check the gondola status before setting out.
What to look for
- The cable-car route reveals the transition from city edge to wooded hills.
- Zhinan Temple provides an optional cultural stop before Maokong.
- Maokong’s tea houses introduce Muzha Tieguanyin and Wenshan Baozhong tea.
The surrounding area
Northern city base for Dihua Street, the Palace Museum and a separate Maokong tea outing.
