About Taipei 101
From the 89th-floor observatory, the city’s dense blocks, mountain edges and river basin become easier to understand. Visibility makes a real difference: a clear afternoon can reveal the surrounding hills, while evening changes the emphasis to the illuminated streets below.
The surrounding district adds more than a tower photograph. Sisi South Village preserves a much smaller scale of settlement close to the modern shopping streets. For a view with the tower in the picture, make Xiangshan a separate walking stop and allow for its steep steps.
What to look for
- The stacked bamboo-like exterior is visible from the surrounding Xinyi streets.
- The indoor observatory looks across the Taipei basin.
- Sisi South Village and Xiangshan offer contrasting ground-level and hillside settings.
The surrounding area
Northern city base for Dihua Street, the Palace Museum and a separate Maokong tea outing.
