About Dushanzi Grand Canyon

The district government describes the canyon as known as the "Duku secret realm, a wonder of a hundred million years", lying in Dushanzi District 28 km south of the urban area and reached by road. It is the district's only 4A-grade scenic area, among the district's 25 tourist attractions and scenic spots, which the district divides into natural, cultural and industrial landscapes.

A China Tourism News feature republished by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism says the canyon has long been known for its steepness and grandeur and is now a national 4A-grade scenic area, and describes it as one of the few distinctive canyon landscapes so far developed in Xinjiang. The same paper records that the scenic area opened on 13 July 2019, that it had received more than 1.5 million visitors in total, that over the five days of the May Day holiday in 2021 it received 100,000 visitors, and that its average daily reception rose from 1,000 in 2019 to 2,000.
