About Dashanbao
Dahai Lake and other wetlands also form an important wintering environment for black-necked cranes, though birdwatching access is separate from simply visiting the scenic loop. For a first trip, use the operated loop to see the grassland and canyon viewpoints. The glass-platform works announced in June 2026 were followed by an operator notice restoring the full scenic loop from 10 July; recheck any newer weather-related changes.
What to look for
- Jigongshan Grand Canyon contrasts sharply with the surrounding rounded grassland.
- The highland wetland landscape supports seasonal black-necked cranes, observed only from permitted visitor areas.
