Shaohua Shan

Shaohua Mountain (少华山) is a national forest park on the northern slope of the Qinling in Huazhou district, Weinan, Shaanxi, about 5 kilometres south-east of the district seat. The park's own page describes it as a scenic area on eastern Shaanxi's main tourism route, oriented to ecological tourism, holidays and mountain climbing.

About Shaohua Mountain

The park's page places it 5 kilometres south-east of the county town on the northern slope of the Qinling, running from Shaohua peak in the west to Panlong Mountain in the east, bounded by the Qinling main ridge to the south and the Guanzhong plain to the north. It gives the park a width of about 10 kilometres east to west and a depth of 35 kilometres north to south, with a total area of 6,300 hectares, an elevation range of about 530 to 2,491 metres and forest cover above 90 per cent.

The park is made up of five scenic sections. The same page names them as Red Cliff Lake, Shimen gorge, the dense-forest valley, Qianlong temple and Shaohua peak, and lists among the park's features steep peaks, dense forest, unusual boulders, falling water, varied waterfalls and clear pools, together with rich plant and animal life.

Work at the park is shared between public and company bodies. A CNR report on an event held there on 1 July 2023 says it was hosted by the Weinan municipal culture and tourism bureau and the Huazhou district people's government and organised by the Shaohua Mountain scenic area management committee and the Shaohua Mountain cultural tourism company. The page carrying the park's description still places it in Huaxian, the district's former name, where the catalogue says Huazhou.
