About Mingyue Village
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' profile describes a village with a long-rooted ceramic culture, drawing on its tea hills, bamboo and pine woods together with four old kilns as its historical and cultural resources, and records its change from a relatively poor village into one known for tourism. Its plan is set out as 'one core, four zones and one loop': the core is the old Mingyue kiln, and the four zones cover ceramics and handicraft workshops, maker courtyards among the linpan woodland homesteads, villager enterprise, and protection of the tea hills and bamboo.
By the date of that 2019 profile, 37 cultural-creative projects and more than a hundred makers had come to the village, and fourteen of the projects had been built, among them the Mingyue kiln, Yuanyuan de Yangguangfang and the Shushan kiln. The village had 6,000 mu of organic lei bamboo and 2,000 mu of ecological tea garden, and 29 villager ventures — guesthouses, teahouses and farm-experience holdings among them — were operating through the Mingyue tourism cooperative.
