About Jiuhuang Mountain
Beichuan is the only Qiang autonomous county in China and the main area of Qiang settlement in the country, and has been designated a national Qiang cultural ecology protection area; it holds one AAAAA-grade scenic area, four AAAA-grade areas including this one, and more than a hundred sights large and small. The Beichuan county chronicles office describes Jiuhuangshan as combining cultural and natural features along a main thread of old Western Qiang culture, retaining remains and living customs of that culture, and records that the area has a typical karst landform with varied geological and meteorological resources. The Chengdu-to-Jiuzhaigou tourist loop passes the gate of the scenic area.
The features named inside the area by the county chronicles office include the Yuanwang karst cave, the Lovers' Bridge, a rope slide, the Erma ecological culture art wall, the Yunbaoding sport and leisure area, the Qiangqing Yuan folk culture area, the Pengjialiang folk and ecological leisure area and a natural mineral hot spring. Writing in 2021, People's Daily's Sichuan channel added the Erma old road, a cloud farm, a ski and grass-ski slope and a high glass bridge, and set out the area's year as magnolia blossom in spring, green shade in summer, coloured woods in autumn and snow in winter.
