About Dabang, Tefuye and the Tefuye Historic Trail
Dabang and Tefuye are Tsou communities in Alishan Township, Chiayi County. Dabang's cultural interpretation introduces ceremonial traditions, weaving, woodwork and the relationships between families, land and community identity. The villages are living places whose cultural spaces have meanings beyond a visitor itinerary.
Two similarly named walking routes need to be distinguished. The Tefuye Trail links the Dabang and Tefuye settlement area and includes a route around the community. The Tefuye Historic Trail is a different mountain route, historically connected with Tsou travel and hunting and later adapted in part for the Shuishan logging railway.
That distinction changes how a visit should be planned. A village walk, a community-led cultural visit and a longer forest hike have different starting points, distances and permissions. In the historic-trail landscape, retained railway traces help connect forest transport with an older path; within Dabang, local interpretation can explain ceremonial and social history that scenery alone cannot. Arrange any cultural activity through the community, and use the currently approved trailhead and open section for a hike.

Use 達邦, 特富野步道 or 特富野古道 according to the activity chosen. Confirm the trailhead and open section, and ask locally before entering ceremonial or residential spaces.
