About Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Cultural Park
Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Cultural Park is an outdoor museum and cultural venue in Beiye Village, Majia Township, Pingtung County. It sits near Paiwan and Rukai communities, while its exhibitions introduce the distinct traditions of Indigenous peoples from across Taiwan. The location is Majia, even though some older tourism records associate it with neighbouring Sandimen.
Traditional house displays, objects, performances and cultural activities provide different forms of interpretation. Comparing building materials and house forms is a useful way to see how communities respond to environment and social life. The displayed structures are museum representations, so their labels matter: they should not be treated as one generic Indigenous village or as occupied historic homes.
The grounds spread over uneven terrain, with separate exhibition and performance areas. Choose a manageable route and leave time for the cultural context of what is shown. A performance or hands-on session follows its own programme, and it cannot stand in for the full ceremonial life of a community. The park offers an introduction that can support more informed, respectfully arranged visits elsewhere.
