About Birch Forest Scenic Area

The scenic area is a national AAAA-grade tourist scenic area and is a naturally grown birch belt four kilometres from the Habahe county seat. A wooden boardwalk runs through it beside the Haba River.

The Altay Prefecture administration's page records an opening ceremony for the scenic area on 29 April 2023 together with holiday activities, and a visitor quoted on the page calls the birch forest China's largest original-ecology birch forest. That description is a visitor's characterisation carried in a quotation; the record does not adopt it as its own statement.

What to look for

  • The naturally grown birch belt itself, which the page distinguishes from planted woodland
  • The wooden boardwalk running through the scenic area beside the Haba River
