About Jiangjunshan International Ski Resort

The department lists the ski area as 5S-grade and says it is one of the few city 5S-grade ski areas in the country, 1.6 kilometres from Jin Shan Square in the city centre. It gives a snow season of 150 days, from November to March, and describes it as a national and autonomous-region alpine ski training base.

Construction began in 2009 and 140 million yuan has been invested. There is a 3,700-square-metre ski equipment hall and 18 runs with a total length of 20 kilometres. The longest, the 'Golden Avenue' intermediate run, is 3,000 metres — which the department describes as currently the longest intermediate run in Xinjiang. The main run has a vertical drop of 405 metres and gradients from 12 to 60 degrees, with beginner through to extreme runs, a snowboard park, moguls and off-piste, and runs 1 and 2 are certified by the International Ski Federation for giant slalom and slalom competition.

The area has two chairlifts of 1,400 and 1,100 metres, four surface lifts and two magic carpets, giving a capacity of 4,500 people per hour and up to 15,000 visits a day.
