About Nanshan West Baiyanggou Valley

The Nanshan scenic area lies in Urumqi County. The regional culture and tourism department's own description of the area says it has high snow peaks, rolling ridges, dense woods, flowers and grassland and clear springs, and names among its better-known spots the East and West Baiyanggou valleys, Houxia, Gangou, Dengcaogou, Shuixigou, Miaoergou and Banfanggou, among others.

The Urumqi municipal culture and tourism bureau registers West Baiyanggou as a 3A-grade scenic area at Baiyanggou village in Gangou Township, and enters East Baiyanggou separately, also 3A and also in Urumqi County, at Baiyanggou village in Sa'erdabang Township. A 2018 report on the regional department's site records that the county's first Nanshan ice-and-snow festival opened at the Xibaiyanggou scenic area, with Kazakh folk performances among the attractions, and that the winter opening brought income to villagers of Baiyanggou village who sold yoghurt to visitors.

The sources used here establish the valley's name, its position within the Nanshan group, its township, its grade and one winter event.
