About Qiemo Museum

The museum was first built in 2008 and formally opened in 2009. In 2021 the county invested 6.5 million yuan in a full upgrade of the displays, completed in February 2023. The building has a total floor area of 1,800 square metres, with 1,200 square metres of exhibition space, divided into ten historical-relic exhibition zones that use objects, models, photographs, sand tables and maps to present Qiemo's local history.

It holds 1,049 movable cultural relics (sets), of which 173 are precious and 876 ordinary. The collections are mainly woollen textiles, pottery, bronze and iron, with some stone and wooden objects as well. Its permanent exhibition hall is titled "Qiemo Historical and Cultural Display" (《且末历史文化陈列》) and tells the county's history from the Stone Age to the present along a time axis, using scene reconstruction, touch-sensitive interactive walls and scale models.

The museum has been named a prefectural patriotism education base, a prefectural science education base for 2021-2025 and an off-campus practice education base for the Xinjiang Young Pioneers.
