The county government places the Tangbula scenic area in the east of Nilka County and says the name means "seal, imprint", popularly extended to "imperial seal". It describes the area as running more than a hundred li east to west and made up of four landscape elements the page names as the Tianshan mountains, grassland, rivers and hot springs, and records that it holds 113 gullies. It also records that the area is a national-level forest park approved by the State Forestry Administration with a total area of 514,000 mu, that it was named a "China beautiful pastoral grassland landscape" in July 2013, an autonomous-region environmental education base in July 2014, and a national AAAA-level tourist area in November 2015.

The prefecture government's older account names the Tangbula grassland, the Mengkete grassland with its 19 streams, a small alpine lake known as the "little Tianchi", the Xionggou valley, and "Little Huashan" with its rock formations, and records that four hot springs lie in the area; it adds that rock paintings, Wusun tombs, a stone gate, a stone bridge and rock formations are among the features there, and that the county has held horse racing, diaoyang, guniangzhui and akon string-singing events at Tangbula every year since 2000. A 2021 prefecture report describes the S315 stretch as dense spruce forest, wild flowers and rows of yurts, and records that the county set up a tourism enforcement group and five specialist working groups at the scenic area with 292 new service-team members.
