About Urho Poplar Forest
The regional forestry and grassland administration, in an article credited to Tianshan Net, records that more than 90 per cent of China's Euphrates poplar grows in Xinjiang, and that the poplar woodland of Wuerhe District covers 300,000 mu in total. It is mainly distributed in the original poplar forest between Baikouquan and the Wuerhe urban area, in the Baiyang River Grand Canyon scenic area and in the Wuerhe township poplar forest about 6 km from the urban area, among other places.
The poplars here colour early: the leaves begin to turn yellow in early September, and September and October are the best season, when golden poplars, red tamarisk and saxoul contrast with the yardang landforms and the winding river.
