About Yanquan Mountain Park

A China Daily Xinjiang desk page says the scenic area lies in the centre of Wushi county town and takes its name from the well-known Yanzi Mountain and the Nine Springs. It dates the first construction to between 1766 and 1788 and describes the park as a relatively old one in Xinjiang's history, and gives its area as about 960 mu. The page describes the park as combining geological wonders, historic-cultural landscape and natural scenery, with willows, pavilions, terraces, towers and halls and springs that flow all year.

A China News Service Xinjiang piece describes the nine clear springs standing in a row, their eyes churning as if boiling and flowing in all seasons, and Yanxi Lake (燕西湖) blue and bright with reeds on its islands where wild ducks and other birds nest and raise their young. It says Yanzi Mountain is steep and sheer and is climbed by steps, and points to ancient shell fossils and a geological corridor there. The piece describes the scenery as beautiful as Jiangnan's and repeats the site's reputation as the finest scenery south of the Tianshan (天南第一胜景).

Neither cited page gives a street address, a designation or opening arrangements, and the age and area of the park are the China Daily page's own figures.
