About Puji Temple
Its courtyard leads through a gate and guardian hall to a main hall distinguished by copper roofing. The building combines timber brackets and decorative traditions from the wider Han–Tibetan cultural region. Two old Yunnan cherry trees add another strong feature to the main court, especially when flowering. This is a compact architectural visit with a hillside approach, rather than an extension of the old town’s flat shopping lanes.
What to look for
- The main hall’s double-eaved roof is covered with copper tiles.
- Two mature Yunnan cherry trees stand before the hall within the courtyard.
