About Wanyao Old Village
The village produced blue-and-white ceramics for everyday use. Its stream supplied power for waterwheels and pounding equipment that crushed ceramic stone, while the hillside suited a stepped dragon kiln. Workshops and houses grew around this practical arrangement of water, clay processing and firing.
The surviving upper-village landscape includes kiln and workshop remains, water-powered equipment, stilted houses and an old theatre stage. Reservoir construction removed much of the lower settlement, making these surviving buildings especially important for understanding the former production community.
