About Liu's Manor
Its buildings fall into northern and southern groups rather than one continuous palace-like block. The scale and repeated courts show how a wealthy family’s residence expanded into a substantial local complex.
Use the different building groups to understand the site before concentrating on the museum narrative. The older residence and newer mansion areas provide a way to compare domestic spaces across the compound. The museum’s interpretation has its own political and social history, so read the architecture, original objects and later displays as related but distinct parts of the visit.
What to look for
- Northern and southern building groups reveal the compound’s multi-part layout.
- The family ancestral home and separate mansions show the range of residential spaces.
