About Tsing Yi Park
The European-style layout includes a lookout pavilion and an amphitheatre, with palm and flowering-tree gardens along the paths. It suits an unhurried circuit focused on water and planting. The sports courts and children’s areas can be added according to interest without making them the purpose of the visit.
Tsing Yi Park opened in September 1996 on Tsing King Road (青敬路), near Tsing Yi station, and covers 7.09 hectares under the management of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (康乐及文化事务署). Near Gate 8 a peach garden (桃花园) blossoms during the Lunar New Year, and the artificial lake is planted with lotus and bordered by deciduous trees including dawn redwood (水杉), Chinese swamp cypress (水松), bald cypress (落羽松) and sweetgum (枫香), which turn red and gold in autumn and winter.
The park's seven tennis courts occasionally host public tournaments and, every two years, events in the Hong Kong Games. Its five-a-side football pitch is sometimes converted into a handball court for inter-school and inter-district matches, and hosts annual seven-a-side football tournaments such as the National Day Cup and New Year Cup. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has periodically held Lantern Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival light shows in the park, most recently a Mid-Autumn show in 2017.
What to look for
