About Wusong Paotaiwan Wetland Park
Wusong Paotaiwan Wetland Park (吴淞炮台湾湿地公园) is a waterfront park in Shanghai's Baoshan District, near the meeting of the Huangpu and Yangtze rivers. Its shoreline landscape combines wetland scenery with traces of the area's coastal-defence history.
Paotaiwan's name refers to historical gun emplacements. A military-culture square displays an excavated Qing-period cannon, giving a specific historical point of interest within the larger natural setting. The river views and wetland margins offer a different pace from that of a conventional monument visit.
The wider scenic area also includes the Estuary Science and Technology Museum of the Yangtze River, which explains the estuary's development and environment. Decide whether your visit is an outdoor walk, a museum visit or both. They share a setting but have different focuses and visitor arrangements. Along the waterfront, observe wildlife and the river from designated paths rather than stepping into the wetland to seek a better viewpoint.
