About Wanxia Lake
The China Gansu Net feature places the lake in Jiangxi town, 5 km west of Xihe county town, and records that it began as a reservoir, which it calls among the largest in south-eastern Gansu. It describes reed beds and wetlands filling the lake and birds gathering there, boating on the water with hills and water around, farmhouse restaurants and local snacks along the shore, and orchards on the surrounding hills that flower in spring and fruit in autumn.
A Longnan Daily report of 2025 records that Xihe County draws on Wanxia Lake, Bafeng Cliff and Yunhua Mountain among its scenic resources in developing local industries, and that Jiangxi town works to a theme it states as a water town on the Long plateau and home of the Qiqiao festival, building a scene in which the village stands inside the scenic area and the scenic area inside the village. At the lake itself, the report records, a visitor reception centre and a wetland park have been built and the roads and sewage works improved.
Neither page gives the lake's area or storage capacity, a scenic-area grade or a managing body. Neither gives opening arrangements or ticket information. The 2025 report's visitor and spending figures are its own cumulative totals for an unstated period and are not used here.
