About Gubei Water Town
Its courtyards and waterside lanes use architectural styles associated with the Ming, Qing and Republican periods; the setting should not be confused with an entirely untouched ancient town. Craft-oriented stops such as Yongshun Dye House and Sima Xiaoshao liquor workshop give the streets a more specific focus than simply photographing canals. The wall rising behind the resort is a separate experience, with its own access arrangements and a much steeper landscape.

Getting to Gubei Water Town
The resort is in Gubeikou, Miyun, beside the Simatai Great Wall visitor area.
- The municipal guide gives Exit 24 of the Beijing–Chengde Expressway as the road approach, followed by signs to Gubei Water Town.
