About Lazikou Pass

The provincial scenic-area list places the pass in the deep mountain gorge of north-eastern Têwo county, 7 km north of the seat of Langzha township, where steep stone cliffs face each other across a gap about 30 m long, 8 m wide and more than 100 m high. Below the cliffs runs the fast Langzha river, crossed by a single small timber bridge that connects with a plank walk under the cliff on the eastern side; looking up from there, the list says, only a strip of sky is visible, and it describes the terrain as extremely steep while calling the scenic area inside it fine in scenery and pleasant in climate. The Gannan prefecture government's page describes the pass as a gorge gap of extreme steepness on the old Gansu–Sichuan road and on today's Minxian–Daigusi road, and records that the site is a national AAA-grade tourist attraction, that it lies 7 km north of the seat of Langzha township, and that it is the memorial place of the Langzha Pass battle, which the page classes as a revolutionary site.
