About Wenxian Tianchi Lake
The three the page names are that the lake has no traceable source, that no leaves fall on its surface, and that its water does not freeze. It gives the lake an area of 2.5 sq km, a depth of 97 m and an elevation of 1,728 m, and records that in 2018 Wenxian Tianchi was rated a national 4A-grade scenic area, with a national forest park, a listing as a Chinese outstanding tourism destination and a provincial geological park among its other designations.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism's rural tourism route page describes the lake differently again, as a gourd-shaped green pool in Tianwei Mountain that merges with its surroundings. It places Wenxian Tianchi National Forest Park in the high mountains about 100 km north of Wenxian county town, more than 1,500 m above sea level, with Yangtang Tianchi, Penjing Pool, Yinma Pool and Huangling Gully, and describes the whole area as striking peaks and green pines and cypresses, a natural oxygen bar and a good leisure destination. The same page states that Yangtang Tianchi is one of China's four great tianchi; that is a ranking claim of the page's own and this record does not adopt it.
The Xinhua page records new boardwalks, pavilions and a lakeside touring route among the works carried out at the site, and says the scenic area has been working towards national 5A-grade scenic area and national tourism destination status on principles of ecological priority, protection first and green development. Neither page gives opening arrangements or ticket information.
