About Mei Ho House
The exhibition uses residents’ oral histories, donated household objects and reconstructed units to show how living conditions changed from the 1950s to the 1970s. A facade mural introduces the surrounding neighbourhood before the indoor displays. The building’s continued use is part of the story, so hostel rooms should only be visited through an authorised arrangement.
What to look for
- Interpretive units compare cramped early housing with later household layouts.
- The facade mural depicts changes in Mei Ho House and its neighbourhood.
The surrounding area
An inland Kowloon neighborhood for specialist streets, independent shops and everyday eating.
