About Hongshan National Forest Park
The mountain gave both the city and the archaeological Hongshan culture their names. Within the forest park, pine and other northern trees frame weathered formations with names such as Reclining Camel Peak and General Rock. Focus on the Hongshan scenic sector: its paths combine close views of the red stone with a wider outlook across the river and city.
What to look for
- The red rock formations, including Reclining Camel Peak and General Rock.
- The higher Hongshan outlook over the Yingjin River and Chifeng.

Getting to Hongshan National Forest Park
Use the Hongshan scenic-sector entrance on Chifeng's northeastern side beside the Yingjin River.
- The larger forest park includes several mountain sectors; ask for the Hongshan climbing route rather than assuming every park entrance reaches the same viewpoint.
