About Khan Mountain
Large heads of Mongol and Yuan rulers rise on the hillside above ranks of sculpted warriors, turning the slope into an open-air historical tableau. The effect depends on scale: the army is read close up, while the ruler portraits dominate the longer view. A simple uphill sequence through those two groups explains the composition more clearly than treating the sculptures as unrelated photograph stops.
What to look for
- The hillside group of Mongol and Yuan ruler portraits.
- The ranks of warrior sculptures arranged below the rulers.
