About Ji'an Museum
Pottery, weapons and mural-related interpretation place the nearby royal tombs in the context of daily life and belief. The building itself has an eight-petalled lotus plan, giving it a recognisable form before you enter. It is a useful first stop before Gungnae, Hwando or the royal tombs because it brings evidence from these separated locations into one visit.
Ji'an Museum, a museum dedicated to Goguryeo cultural relics, was established on 15 September 1958, based on the former Ji'an Agricultural Exhibition Hall (集安农业展览馆). Its building was completed in 1964, and in 2009 the museum relocated to a new site in the city.
The museum's building has a floor area of 6,459 square meters and holds a collection of more than 10,000 relics. In 2005 it was rated a national AAAA-level tourist attraction (国家AAAA级旅游景区) by the National Tourism Administration (国家旅游局), and in 2007 it received the State Administration of Cultural Heritage's (国家文物局) award for Advanced Collective in National Cultural Heritage Protection Work (全国文化遗产保护工作先进集体).

- The eight-petalled lotus form of the museum building.
Location & getting there
Getting to Ji'an Museum
The current museum stands at the intersection of Jianshe Street and Yunshui Road (建设街与云水路交汇处) in Ji'an.
- Use that intersection for arrival; the old Yingbin Road premises and the conflicting Wenhua Road direction in an older travel listing are not the current museum address.
