About Fujian Museum
A large bronze nao from Jian’ou exemplifies the early metalwork in its collection, while the regional art displays connect later craft with trade and everyday life. The museum sits beside West Lake, making it easy to combine an indoor visit with the surrounding garden landscape. Check the current gallery plan before seeking individual collection objects.
The museum's building has 15 galleries, with a total exhibition area of 15,000 square meters. Seven permanent galleries address themes from early Fujian civilization and export porcelain to Fujian opera, decorative crafts, and calligraphy and painting, together with natural-history displays such as 'Dinosaur World' (恐龙世界) and 'Animal Kingdom' (动物万象); six further halls are used for temporary exhibitions. The museum has also digitized part of its collection, publishing catalog information online and, for a selection of about 30 objects, high-resolution photographs together with descriptive analysis.
