About Kailuan National Mine Park

The museum's Black River exhibition starts with the formation of coal and moves into the machinery, documents and urban changes of modern mining. Its most revealing objects are often practical ones: an early Kaiping Mining Bureau share certificate, a large sheepskin-covered ledger and a rail from the early Tangxu railway. These connect the mine to investors, transport and everyday industrial work.

What to look for

  • The Kaiping Mining Bureau share certificate and sheepskin-covered ledger, tangible records of the mining company's finances.
  • Early railway material and the Black River exhibition's account of coal and Tangshan's growth.
