About Yanchuan Yellow River Qiankun Bend
Qiankun Bend is a pronounced Yellow River meander in Yanchuan's plateau-and-gorge landscape.
The river's curve and the high eroded banks make the view legible from above. It belongs to the wider Yellow River cultural and scenic route, but it is a different destination from Hukou Waterfall. The main experience is landscape observation: changes in light and visibility affect how clearly the bend and surrounding landforms can be seen.
The river bend is a lesson in scale. From the plateau, the water can look still and close even though the banks and approach roads extend across a large area. A viewpoint visit should be planned around the actual road and viewing position. Use the surrounding slopes and settlements to read the size of the scene rather than relying on an isolated photograph.
What to look for
- The river's large curve.
- High plateau banks and eroded slopes.
- The relationship between the gorge and the surrounding upland landscape.
