About Shanghai Disney Resort

Inside the theme park, Enchanted Storybook Castle anchors the landscape, while themed areas include Treasure Cove and Zootopia.

Select a few lands around your interests and use the current programme for rides and shows. Disneytown provides a separate shopping and dining area outside the main theme-park experience. The wider resort and Disneyland do not have identical admission arrangements, so make the booked destination clear.

Shanghai Disney Resort is the sixth Disney resort worldwide, the third in Asia and the second in China; it competes with Beijing Universal Resort and OCT's Shanghai Happy Valley (上海欢乐谷). Groundbreaking took place on April 8, 2011, with construction expected to take about four years. Disneytown and Star Wish Park opened to the public on April 26, 2016, ahead of the main theme park, which opened on June 16, 2016. The Walt Disney Company holds 43 percent of the resort, with the remaining 57 percent held by the Shanghai Shendi Group (上海申迪集团).

The park's design abandons the classic Main Street USA found in other Disney parks, instead placing an 11-hectare garden at its center for parade performances. Its centerpiece, the Enchanted Storybook Castle (奇幻童话城堡), unveiled in the resort's first concept renderings in March 2013, is four stories tall. The Disney-Pixar Toy Story Land (迪士尼·皮克斯-玩具总动员园) area of Shanghai Disneyland opened on April 26, 2018.

What to look for

  • Enchanted Storybook Castle forms the theme park’s central landmark.
  • Treasure Cove and Zootopia create distinct story-based environments.

The surrounding area

A large district containing major museums and the tower skyline. A hotel near one attraction may still be far from another.
