About Fangta pagoda

The modern park brings together the pagoda with historic structures and fragments from several periods.

A Ming brick-carved screen wall and the Tianfei Palace add different religious and decorative elements. Some buildings were relocated here, so the ensemble should not be read as a single untouched temple compound. Comparing the tower, screen and relocated hall gives the visit a clear architectural theme and explains the park’s role in conserving Songjiang’s heritage.

What to look for

  • The Square Pagoda is the vertical focus of the former temple site.
  • A Ming brick-carved screen wall preserves detailed masonry decoration.
  • The relocated Tianfei Palace adds a separate religious building to the park.
