About Enyang Ancient Town
Trading buildings and residential courtyards give the lanes much of their interest, especially Wanshou Palace, the former Jiangxi merchants’ guildhall. The Hu Family Courtyard uses the hillside to create several levels around two light wells. Its front section was reconstructed, so read the site interpretation rather than treating every visible structure as an untouched survival. The wharf places these buildings back in their river-trading setting.
What to look for
- The Hu Family Courtyard is arranged around light wells on a sloping, multi-level site.
- Wanshou Palace and the old wharf show the town’s guildhall and river-trading spaces.
