What to see
Sulphurous vapour rises around Thermal Valley throughout the year, and a path runs around the lake. Beitou Hot Spring Museum (北投溫泉博物館) occupies the former public bathhouse built in 1913. After the building fell into disuse, local schoolchildren and teachers petitioned for its preservation in 1994; the restored museum was established in 1998.
Railway heritage
Xinbeitou Historic Station (新北投車站) began in 1916 on a branch built for hot-spring tourism. Its timber structure has carved brackets beneath the eaves and a distinctive three-plus-one grouping of dormer windows resulting from a 1937 extension. The station was reassembled near its original site in Qixing Park (七星公園) in April 2017.
