About Fujian Museum

A large bronze nao from Jian’ou exemplifies the early metalwork in its collection, while the regional art displays connect later craft with trade and everyday life. The museum's building has 15 galleries, with a total exhibition area of 15,000 square meters. Seven permanent galleries address themes from early Fujian civilization and export porcelain to Fujian opera, decorative crafts, and calligraphy and painting, together with natural-history displays such as 'Dinosaur World' (恐龙世界) and 'Animal Kingdom' (动物万象); six further halls are used for temporary exhibitions. The museum has also digitized part of its collection, publishing catalog information online and, for a selection of about 30 objects, high-resolution photographs together with descriptive analysis.

Fujian Museum (Chinese: 福建博物院) is the provincial museum of Fujian province in China established in 1933. It is located in the city capital of Fuzhou at No. 96, Hutou Jie next to the West Lake Park. The museum was completed in October 2002, covering an area of 6 hectares and a building area of 36,000 square meters. The total investment of the museum's complex is 270 million Yuan. As a national first-class museum, the Fujian Museum has a collection of more than 170,000 relics and natural specimens.
