About Wutong Mountain
Big Wutong and Little Wutong are the principal named summits. The mountain is also the source area of the Shenzhen River, and clear conditions can open views towards Mirs Bay and the hills across the Hong Kong boundary.
There are several approaches with different gradients and lengths. Wutong Village is a common starting point, with a broad uphill road as well as connections to steeper summit routes. Choose a turnaround point that suits the weather and your ability: a lower-slope outing and a climb to Big Wutong are substantially different days.
What to look for
- Little Wutong and Big Wutong provide different summit objectives within the same range.
- Clear-weather views can take in Mirs Bay and the mountains of Hong Kong’s New Territories.
- The contrast between wooded slopes and the built-up city is visible along the ascent.
The surrounding area
A separate major city for waterfront leisure, contemporary urban life, Nantou and longer excursions toward Dapeng.
