About Yanhua Pond Garden

It brings together the pool garden, a shrine to the poet Lu You and the former Chongqingzhou Confucian Temple. The water is therefore only one part of a site that connects landscape, literary memory and civic education.

Visit the three areas as a sequence of changing purposes. Begin with the pool and surrounding garden, continue to the Lu You memorial, then compare the more formal arrangement of the Confucian-temple section. Much of the surviving building fabric reflects later rebuilding, while the garden’s origins and literary associations reach back to earlier periods.
