About Tung Chung Fort

Chinese inscriptions mark its three arched gateways, and six old cannon stand along the north wall. The main entrance inscription supplies evidence for the fort’s nineteenth-century construction, while the surviving layout makes its coastal-defence role tangible. Spend time with the gates and ramparts before adding the information centre. The fort and the separate coastal Tung Chung Battery are different monuments.

What to look for

  • The north wall carries six old muzzle-loading cannon.
  • Inscribed arched gateways punctuate the granite enclosure.
