About Tai O Fishing Village

Pedestrian bridges join the two sides, making the water channels central to the village layout. Salted-fish and shrimp-paste shops connect the street scene with the area’s fishing traditions.

A village circuit can combine bridge views, public lanes and the Kwan Tai and Tin Hau temples on Kat Hing Back Street. The old police station, now a heritage hotel, offers a separate architectural stop. Boat trips are optional commercial excursions; views of wildlife should never be treated as a guaranteed part of the visit.

What to look for

  • Stilt houses and pedestrian bridges reveal the village’s relationship with the water.
  • Kat Hing Back Street contains the adjoining Kwan Tai and Tin Hau temples.
  • Traditional seafood-product shops add a working commercial layer to the lanes.
