About Longping Rice Museum
Its three principal themes move from long-term farming culture to Yuan Longping’s work and the life cycle of the rice plant. Longping Rice Museum, a museum themed on rice cultivation, was completed and opened to the public on September 27, 2019, within Longping Zhongyang Gongyuan (隆平中央公园) located in Furong District (芙蓉区), Changsha. It covers an area of 30 mu (亩), with a total building area of 11,000 square metres, and contains three basic exhibition halls with a display area of nearly 6,000 square metres. The museum's collection totals 8,623 items, and its exhibits focus on the history of the academician Yuan Longping (袁隆平) and the hybrid rice varieties he bred.
