Setting and landscape
To the west, Zhongyang Street (中央大街), the railway and Renmin North Street (人民北街) separate Linghe from Guta District (古塔区); across the Xiaoling River lies Taihe District (太和区), and beyond the Zijing hills lies Linghai (凌海). The Shenyang–Shanhaiguan railway runs through the district. The district also takes in the Baigu River (百股河), and three of the traditional Eight Views of Jinzhou (锦州八景) are here, among them "Morning Sun over Zijing" (紫荆朝旭). The district government holds up Zijing Mountain Forest Park and East Lake Forest Park (东湖森林公园) as examples of city and nature side by side, and the Xiaoling River Water Park is the largest park in the city.
What to see
The Liaoshen Campaign Memorial (辽沈战役纪念馆), on the fifth section of Beijing Road (北京路), is devoted to the Liaoshen Campaign. The present hall was built from 1986 north of the Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument and opened on 31 October 1988; the grounds now cover 188,000 square metres. Its main building has halls on the war, on civilian support for the front and on the fallen, plus a panorama hall. The eight-metre granite monument carries an inscription by Zhu De (朱德), and galleries on both sides of the square below it list the names of 49,522 soldiers who died on the northeastern front. The monument and the martyrs' cemetery are provincial protected sites, and the memorial is a national 4A scenic area that was rated a national first-grade museum in May 2024.
The Jinzhou Antiques City (锦州古玩城), a national cultural industry demonstration base, is described by the district as one of China's ten major antiques markets, and the Jinzhou Antiques Culture Festival has been held sixteen times. Local performance traditions include opera, crosstalk and drum-song storytelling, and the district's listed heritage crafts include tin carving, knotwork and paper-cutting.
