About National Aquatics Center
Its square outline and translucent cushions create a deliberate visual contrast with the neighboring stadium's curved steel lattice. Built for the 2008 Olympic aquatic events, the building subsequently acquired public leisure and exhibition uses. The exterior alone explains much of its architectural character, while a swim, an exhibition or another indoor activity requires checking the appropriate current booking rather than assuming that one sightseeing ticket covers everything.
What to look for
- The bubble-like exterior cushions inspired by the geometry of water foam.
- The square Water Cube seen alongside the Bird's Nest's rounded steel structure.
- The aquatic venue interior or current exhibition areas when included in the selected admission.
