About South Wutai Temple Area
The five named terraces include Guanyin, Wenshu, Qingliang, Lingying and Sheshen. Lingying’s narrow rocky profile is especially recognizable, while the wooded approaches and changing cloud cover shape the mountain experience. Much of the religious architecture reflects rebuilding. Choose a manageable section of the mountain route rather than treating all five terraces as obligatory stops.

Getting to South Wutai Temple Area
The scenic-area approach is in Xinghuo Village, Wutai Subdistrict, Chang’an District.
- The named road approach runs through Wutai from the Qinling ring road; check the day’s mountain transport and open walking routes at the entrance.
