About Mount Wutai: Taihuai
A compact first visit can link Pusading on its hill with Xiantong Temple and Tayuan Temple below. The white stupa at Tayuan is the valley's clearest visual marker, while the different compounds reveal the density of religious life around the town. Visiting Taihuai's temples and touring the five high plateaus are different undertakings; choose the valley circuit before adding mountain transport.
Within the town, Lingjiu Peak (灵鹫峰) rises 168 metres above sea level; Mount Dailuoding (黛螺顶), also called Green Mount Peak, lies to the east, and Mount Fanxian (梵仙山) lies to the south. More than 595 plant species grow in the town, along with some 142 bird species and 208 mammal species. The town contains more than thirty Buddhist temples.
Taihuai is a town in Wutai County, Xinzhou, administratively covering 189 square kilometres in the northeastern part of the county, with Han, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan residents. It borders Yedou Peak to the north, Guayue Peak and Fanshi County to the west, Mount Taihang and Shizui Township to the east, and Jingangku and Lingjing Townships to the south.
